Diving Penguin Necklace

$950.00
The design and creation of this piece started with manipulation of one of reknown wildlife photographer, Paul Nicklen's photos. While his black and white image immediately brought to mind a design featuring diving penguins, it was too chaotic to fit the design I had in mind. By splitting the photo image, flipping and joining the two same halves, I created the symmetry desired for the design. The piece was then carved from a single piece of Jet, with inlays of white Warthog tusk, and fully back in silver. The piece is completed with a color matched necklace of silver, Black Onyx, and faceted topaz beads. The grouping gives the scene energy and rhythm, suggesting motion as a shared action rather than an isolated moment. The imagery feels lively and cohesive, focused on direction, flow, and collective motion.
