Elephant Pendant-Brooch

This carved Jet pendant brooch was inspired by the remarkable artistry of reknown jeweler JAR (Joel Arthur Rosenthal), combined with my lifelong love of elephants. Working from his original design, minus the diamonds and materials used in his piece, my elephant is carved from Jet, with clear Cubic Zirconium (CZ) set in the silver aigrette (headpiece), Orange CZ for eyes, and carved Warthog tusk for the tusks. As with many of my designs the reverse of the piece features an silver elephant supporting the pin and jumpring allowing the piece to be worn as either a pendant or a brooch. The elephant�s presence carries the piece, giving it a sense of quiet strength and permanence while at the same time the "headpeace" gives it a certain sense of whimsy.
