Onyx Druzy and Pearl "Instrument" Pendant

This unique and playfull pendant centers its design on a beautifully cut Onyx Druzy by Eric Martinez, which on first view brought to minds some odd form of a musical instrument. Working from that idea, I creating the moving "strings"of the instrument in silver with Freshwater Pearl tips which move with movement of the pendant. The central druzy element introduces crystalline texture, helping to capture the light while the matt finish portions of the stone suggest the borders of adjacent frets. The piece hangs from and is complemented by the black stingray cable. The composition balances solidity and sparkle, allowing material contrast to define the character of the piece. Together they create a strong sense of whimsy.
