Peace after the Pandemic

A symbolic brooch and pendant was designed to reflect resilience, renewal, and collective healing. The design had its origin in my thinking about the eternal symbol of the Dove with Olive Branch representing peace, and came to mind towards the end of the sheltering. It also reflects my background as a practicing surgeon. Combining these influences, the olive branch that the dove is carrying arises from the ties of an N95 mask. The mask is carved from Chrysoprase, the dove from warthog tusk, and the leaves of the olive branch set with Tzavorite Garnets. The lightness of the piece creates the image of the dove flying away leaving the masks behind. The expressive form captures the feelings of transition and hope. A meaningful piece rooted in shared experience.
