Polar Bears at Play

This piece depicts a mother Polar Bear with two cubs exploring at the waters edge. This design, along with many of my Polar theme pieces was inspired by the wildlife photography of Paul Nicklen. The bears were rearranged from the photograph positions to fit the geometry of the meteorite backdrop and the "scene" reflects a sense of curiosity and energy felt on viewing the photograph. The composition reflects my typical observational approach to observing "pictures" either in a given stone, or suggested by its shape or color.
